Two People Hit by Jeep, Killed in Fenwick Island

FENWICK ISLAND, Del.- A late Friday evening crash in Fenwick Island claimed the lives of two pedestrians. 

Delaware State Police said crash happened at around 11 p.m., as 45-year-old Grant D. Kinkade Sr.of Westminster, Md., and 64-year-old Robert J. Rust Jr. of Lutherville, Md, attempted to cross Lighthouse Road east of Dukes Road. 

Troopers said that the men walked from the north to the south side of Lighthouse Road and got in front of an eastbound 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep hit both pedestrians and then came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway, according to police.
 
Kinkade was pronounced dead at the scene. Rust was airlifted to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep, 57-year-old Timothy L. Frank of Reisterstown, Md., and the two passengers in his car were uninjured.
 
Lighthouse Road was closed for approximately four hours as police investigated and cleared the crash.
