DelDOT Works to Curb Firefly Traffic Jams

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del.  Officials from the Delaware's Department of Transportation warn drivers to avoid driving through the Dover area tonight to avoid major traffic delays as the Firefly Music Festival wraps up.  At 11 p.m. tonight, Foster the People will give the final performance of the music festival and tens of thousands of people are expected hit the road shortly after.

If you must drive in or near Dover this evening, DelDOT says to use extra caution because of the increase in pedestrian activity in the area.

DelDOT officials have plans in place for tonight. The Northbound right lane of Route 13 from Jefferic Boulevard to Leipsic Road will be closed beginning around 9 p.m. Traffic signal timings will also be adjusted from Dover through New Castle County.

Those attending the festival will be directed onto Route 13 and Route One as they exit the Dover International Speedway.  Some festival goers may wait until morning to leave so drivers should also expect delays in and near Dover on Monday morning.

DelDOT said they will have staff in place to monitor the roads for the morning rush hour.
