Barricaded Man Taken into Custody in Del.

Posted:

CAMDEN-WYOMING, Del.- Delaware State Police say a man who barricaded himself inside a home in Camden-Wyoming was taken into custody Thursday after a four-hour standoff.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., the 31-year-old willingly exited the home on Wynsome Boulevard and was taken into custody without further incident, police said. Investigators said the man, who was not injured, was transported to Kent General Hospital for an evaluation.

The incident began at approximately 12:20 p.m. when Wyoming Police Department received a call about an armed male who was threatening to do harm to himself, authorities said. When officers arrived on the scene, they said the man, who was outside at the time, had run back into the house and barricaded himself inside.

The DSP Special Operations Response Team and Conflict Management Team responded to the scene and established contact with the man and eventually persuaded him to surrender.

Residents in the area were evacuated during the barricade situation but were allowed to return to their homes by late Thursday afternoon.
