Delaware Symphony Orchestra Signs 3-year Contract

WILMINGTON, Del. (WBOC/AP) - The Delaware Symphony Orchestra and its musicians union have finalized a 3-year contract.

The orchestra finalized the contract at its annual board meeting Thursday.

Board chair Tatiana Copeland also announced that the orchestra is getting $75,000 in state funds and that the orchestra was named the beneficiary of a restricted, $600,000 trust.

Last month, Wilmington's mayor and the county executive of New Castle County were instrumental in persuading symphony leadership and the union to restart negotiations. Both leaders have pledged 1-time grants of $50,000 each from their respective budgets to support the orchestra.
