One Dead After Car Crash on Route 50

SALISBURY, Md.- A Pennsylvania woman died following a Sunday morning car crash on Route 50 outside Salisbury.

Maryland State Police identified the fatal crash victim as 79-year-old Ina Mindler. Mindler was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

Police said the passenger in Mindler's car, 80-year-old Verna Tegyi, was flown to Shock Trauma and is in serious condition.

Police said the two were riding in a Chevrolet down on Route 50 near White Lowe Road when Mindler did not yield to an oncoming Hyundai headed west on Route 50. Troopers said that as a result, the driver of the Hyundai, Lesley Williams of Cambridge, hit the driver's side of Mindler's car. Police said the force of the impact pushed the Chevrolet into the left turn lane, where it struck another car.

Police say Williams and passenger Iris Slacum, also from Cambridge, were taken to PRMC for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the driver and passengers in the third vehicle involved did not suffer any injuries.

That area of Route 50 near White Lowe Road was closed for hours as accident reconstruction crews cleaned up the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
