LYNCHBURG, Va. (WBOC/AP) - A 69-year-old Delaware woman on a family outing on the James River in Virginia apparently drowned.
Paramedics were unable to resuscitate Hope F. Stoeckel on Monday after she slipped out of an inner tube and was unable to right herself. She was on an unguided float with her husband and two grandchildren.
Authorities say they do not suspect foul play. Stoeckel's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office in Roanoke.
Stoeckel was from Georgetown, Del.
