Seaford Police ID Vehicular Homicide Victim

SEAFORD, Del.- Seaford police have released the name of a woman who was run over and killed by an SUV early Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified Thursday as 30-year-old Dana R. Passwaters of Blades, Del. Her death is being investigated as a vehicular homicide.

Police said that at that around 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to Third and Front streets for a person lying in the roadway.  

Officers provided medical assistance to the victim until EMS arrived and transported her to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. The victim, later identified as Passwaters, was later flown to Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

A witness told investigators that Passwaters had been seen approaching a silver unknown SUV that was being driven by a black male with a white female passenger on Third Street at which time an argument occurred.  

Authorities said that while engaged in a conversation with the occupants of the car, the vehicle sped off with Passwaters hanging onto the vehicle. 

Police said that after a short distance, Passwaters fell from the vehicle at which time she was run over by the same car.  
The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the crash. The Seaford Police Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the vehicular homicide.
