Friends of Man Whose Remains Were Found Near Lincoln Speak Out

Posted: Updated:

MILFORD, Del.- It has been nearly a month since the body of Edwin Montecinos was found in Lincoln. At the time, very little was known about the discovered remains. Now that a name has been released, more is becoming known about who Montecinos was.

Montecinos, 32, of Milford, lived 10 minutes away from where his body was found. Neighbors were shocked to hear that the remains found were those of Montecinos.

"I ain't never seen him drink or do no drugs or anything," said Mac White. "He's a good person."

White lives next door to Montecinos, and said his whole family was in disbelief that their neighbor was now dead.

"He came across as somebody who was very polite and nice the couple times that I seen him and said hi," said Briana Matthews, his daughter.

Montecinos' body was discovered June 18, when three teenagers were walking along the train tracks and found the remains. Medical examiners are still studying the body to search for clues as to what might have caused his death. At this point, officials say it might be more than two weeks before any new evidence is found.

Neighbors said it is frightening to see somebody from their neighborhood die in such a mysterious way.

"It's scary," said Sylvia White. "I mean, it's enough now that you need to lock your doors and close your windows. But it makes you even scared to go outside at night time anymore."
