EDEN, Md.- Fire officials are trying to determine what sparked a Thursday morning fire at the Eden Wood Preserving Company in southern Wicomico County.

The fire started at around 7:30 a.m. at the business, which is located off of Route 13 on Old Eden Road.

Firefighters from Allen, Fruitland and Salisbury responded to the blaze, which fire officials said started in a giant kiln. The wood is dried in giant kilns with carefully controlled temperature and humidity levels. The goal is to get the boards to dry quickly and evenly, and to prevent warping. However, fire officials said the wood is unusable and they are trying to figure out what sparked the fire.

There were no reported injuries and an estimate of damages is not yet available.
