GUMBORO, Del.- The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office has ruled as accidental a Monday morning fire that occurred at a home in southern Sussex County.

The fire was reported at around 6:38 a.m. Monday at a home located on the 37000 block of Millsboro Highway, near Collins Road in Gumboro.

The Gumboro Fire Company responded to the scene and was assisted by the surrounding fire companies from Delaware and Maryland. Upon arrival they encountered fire from a first floor window.

Authorities said the home, which was equipped with working smoke detectors, was occupied at the time of the fire. Two occupants escaped but were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.

An investigation revealed that the fire started in the living room and was caused by an electrical cord failure.
