FRANKFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured in Frankford.

Troopers said that at around 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, 38-year-old Wayne Thomas Blanks Jr. of Baltimore was riding his bicycle on the improved shoulder of Omar Road, just west of West Road. According to police, that is when an unknown vehicle driving behind Blanks struck him with its passenger side mirror.

Police said Blanks was thrown from his bicycle and landed in a wooded area by the roadway and the vehicle failed to stop. Blanks was flown to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in fair condition.

Troopers said Blanks' bike was equipped with a flashing rear light.

Police ask anyone with information on this incident to contact Master Cpl. L. Dick at (302) 856-5850, ext. 328.
