Drivers Seriously Hurt in Del. Head-on Crash

Posted:

MILLSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police say two drivers suffered serious injuries when their vehicles crashed head-on crash north of Millsboro late Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the incident happened at around 4:15 p.m., as 42-year-old Dwayne J. Karr of Georgetown was driving a Kia Sedona minivan eastbound on Zoar Road when he crossed over the center line and into the westbound lanes.

Police said 16-year-old Zachary C. Ritter of Millsboro was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound and tried to avoid Karr's vehicle by moving into the eastbound lanes.

However, troopers said Karr moved back into the eastbound lanes and hit Ritter's pickup head-on.

Karr was removed from the scene by EMS and initially transported to Beebe Medical Center before being airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in fair condition.

Ritter was transported to Beebe where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Impairment on behalf of Karr appears to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending against him, police said. They also said a search of Karr's vehicle turned up 260 bags of heroin and more than $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds.
