DOVER, Del.- Dover police have arrested one suspect and are still looking for another in connection with a home invasion robbery that occurred earlier this week in a city neighborhood.

Darnell Smith, 28, of Houston, Del., is charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, posession of a firearm by a person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, four counts of aggravated menacing and offensive touching.

Smith's arrest stemmed from an incident that allegedly occurred Sunday, July 14, at a home on the 300 block of West Division Street. Police said Smith and another suspect, 23-year-old James Wheeler, of Dover, put on face wraps and armed themselves with handguns when they entered the rear of the home and encountered four victims at the front of the dwelling.

One victim was thrown to the ground and another robbed of cash during the incident, police said. Investigators said the two suspects then fled the scene and were observed going into a nearby home.

Officers were able to take Smith into custody but said Wheeler fled and warrants have been obtained for his arrest.

Smith was booked on the aforementioned charges and ordered held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $195,500 cash bond.

Anyone with information about Wheeler's whereabouts is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips can also be submitted to law enforcement through tip lines maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or on-line at www.tipsubmit.com.
