WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- Police say they are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man subdued by Wilmington officers using stun guns after a pursuit.
The driver of a vehicle refused to stop for officers on Sunday night near West 25th and North Madison streets and police say officers pursued him until public safety concerns prompted them to stop.
Minutes later, police say a witness alerted police of a reckless driver and officers encountered a man fleeing the vehicle on Wawaset Street. Police say the man became combative and officers used a stun gun to subdue him.
The man was seated on the ground when police say he appeared to go into cardiac arrest. Officers began CPR and called for paramedics, but the man was later pronounced dead at Wilmington Hospital.
