RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- A Chesterfield County man face charges of pointing a laser at a Virginia State Police airplane.
State police spokesman Sgt. Thomas J. Molnar says the laser beam hit the pilot's eyes, causing temporary pain.
The pilot, Trooper Adam Culbertson, called for assistance and flew through the area in an attempt to find the laser's location.
Molnar says the green light illuminated the Cessna 182's cockpit again as troopers searched for its location.
About 45 minutes after the search began, troopers found the laser's origin and arrested 20-year-old Matthew L. Farr.
Farr is charged with interfering with the operation of an aircraft.
The incident occurred Saturday night as Culbertson was flying near the Powhatan Parkway and Courthouse Road.
