Reale Revival Joins Growing Number of Delmarva Breweries

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Reale Revival in Cambridge is joining the ever growing number of independent craft breweries across Delmarva.

J.T. Merryweather, one of the co-owners of Reale Revival, said the slogan "Reale brew, reale local" is not just a catchphrase.

"We've made the bar out of all local Dorchester county reclaimed tin off of an old barn, local Dorchester county cedar, and have as many local products as possible," he said.

Reale Revival is independent, like Evo and Dogfish Head.  But J.T. said that doesn't make them enemies.

"It's a cooperative competition," Merryweather said, "Craft brewers only make up 6 percent of all domestic beer sales in America.  We see it as not competing against each other, but we want to work together to get a bigger share, a bigger piece of that 94 percent."

Local business owners are excited for Saturday's opening as well.  Heidi Greibel, who owns the Sunnyside Shop just down the street, said she has been patiently waiting for them to open the doors.

"I've been here for about nine years and there's been a series of attempts to run businesses in there and finally we have something I see is going to be very successful and draw a lot of people into the area.  The beer is good, I've tasted it, and I'm thrilled to have them coming." said Greibel.

J.T. said Maryland is currently 35th out of 50 states in terms of brewery per capita.  It's a number he and other entrepreneurs across the peninsula hope to change in the coming years.
