DOVER, Del.- Dover police have arrested a registered sex offender accused of viewing child porn on his cellphone while in a department store.

David McCorkle, 62, of Dover, is charged with possession of child pornography.

Police said McCorkle's arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred early Sunday evening at the Target store. According to police, officers responded to the Target after receiving a report about a man who appeared to have child porn on his cellphone. When officers arrived on the scene, they said they observed McCorkle sitting in the café area looking at his phone.

The phone was seized and officers observed alleged child porn content on it, police said.

He was arrested on the aforementioned charge and ordered held in default of $50,000 bond.

According to the Delaware Sex Offender Registry, McCorkle is a Tier III (high-risk) sex offender who was convicted in December 2000 of possession of child pornography. He was also convicted in August 2004 of second offense using a computer to unlawfully depict a child engaging in a prohibited sexual act.
