A Dorchester County School Upgrades Security

Posted:

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Countryside Christian School in Cambridge has added more security to ensure the safety of its students for the 2013-2014 year.

The new measures include a new lock system, an alarm for the building, as well as new protocols for students and parents to follow during drop off and pick up times.

"No problem has ever happened here, no incident has ever happened here, we want to keep it that way. So we wanted to keep ahead of it, and keep the kids secure that way." said John McArthur, the principal and preacher for the school.

McArthur also said they wanted their security system to be efficient, but also not intrusive on the students. He says he has heard nothing but praise of the change by parents.

"As a matter of fact, before we even began to install our system, we told the parents we would not do it if we did not have the money up front.  So we raised the money for it, once we had it, we installed the system."

Security upgrades were not the only change.  There is also a new curriculum this year designed around critical thinking and allowing students to excel once they leave the school.
