Federal Grant to Help Delawareans With New Health Insurance

Posted:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - The federal government has awarded a half-million-dollar grant to a Washington, D.C.-area consulting firm to assist Delawareans with the state's new health insurance exchange under the federal health care reform law.

Officials announced Thursday that Chatman LLC will provide "navigator" services to help people learn about and enroll in Delaware's new health insurance marketplace.

Chatman LLC is run by Priscilla Chatman, a Widener University law school graduate and former special assistant to former Pennsylvania Sen. Harris Wofford. Chatman also has worked as a senior legislative representative for the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare and a senior analyst for the University of Maryland's School of Medicine.

Delaware officials expect to enroll about 35,000 people in the new health insurance exchange starting in October.
