Suspect Arrested in Georgetown Home Invasion, Shooting

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Police have arrested one suspect and are looking for several others wanted in connection with a late Thursday night home invasion robbery and shooting that left a 42-year-old man injured.

Police said the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Kimmey Street. According to investigators, multiple suspects broke into the home for the purpose of robbing the victim in a drug-related incident. During the ordeal, the victim was shot once in the leg and suffered a non-life-threatening injury. He was later taken to Beebe Medical Center where he remains hospitalized, police said.

The suspects fled the scene but during a search of the area police located one of them and took him into custody. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Donta E. Vickers, of Georgetown, was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, home invasion, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and second-degree conspiracy. Bond information was not immediately available.

According to police, the home invasion was not a random act and the victim was specifically targeted by the suspects.
