Six Named to College Sports Madness’ Preseason All-Independent Squad


DOVER, Del.- With the regular season around the corner, College Sports Madness announced its Preseason All-Independent Team, with six DSU student-athletes receiving recognition. 

Earning First Team honors were forward Taylor Addison, midfielder Kaitlyn Schech and defender Morgan Durham, whereas forward Chelsea Boursiquot, midfielder Kelly Pelz-Butler and defender Darcy Pelz-Butler garnered Second Team honors.  

Returning as the top-scorer from last season, Addison tallied four goals on her way to becoming the first Hornet ever to earn First Team All-Great West Conference honors. 

Starting every game in 2012, Schech she tallied one goal while leading the team in shots (21) and shots placed on-goal (9).   

In the case of Durham, she was a mainstay for DSU on the backend throughout last season while starting every game for the Hornets.  

Boursiquot, the junior out of Stratford, Conn., was DSU's second leading scorer by notching two goals in 2012, whereas K. Pelz-Butler and D. Pelz-Butler notched one assist to move into fifth all-time in this category in team history.

The UMBC Retrievers are coming off a 1-11-5 finish in 2012, including a 0-5-3 record in the America East.  

Last season was also Head Coach Leslie Wray's first season at the helm.     

» The Series: In regular season play, the Hornets are 0-4 all-time against UMBC.  In their last meeting, DSU fell 4-1 at UMBC in its regular season opener in 2010.
