Md. Trooper Hit in Car Crash, Suspect Charged With DUI

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.– Authorities have charged with DUI a driver involved in a Route 50 crash that left a Maryland State Police trooper injured.

Maryland State Police said that at around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, David Leyden was making a left turn at a red light on Keyser Point Road when his Ford Mustang hit the trooper's marked patrol car. The trooper was going through a green light at the intersection when Leyden ran the red light, police said.

The trooper involved in the accident was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and released. 

Leyden was charged with a DUI and other traffic-related violations.
