CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP)- Maryland State Police say alcohol and aggressive driving are factors in a Capital Beltway crash involving a tractor trailer that left an infant in critical condition.
Police say the driver of a Nissan lost control on the inner loop near Capitol Heights on Sunday night and the car bounced off a guard rail and was hit by a tractor trailer.
Rescue crews took the infant to Children's Hospital in critical condition and police say two adults were extricated and taken to a hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. The tractor trailer driver was not hurt.
Police say they believe the 21-year-old man behind the wheel of the car was driving aggressively while under the influence of alcohol. No charges have been filed.
