UMES Announces Cross Country Schedule

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Head cross country coach Ernest Barrett has announced his
2013 cross country schedule today and it shows attention to making a statement locally
and regionally.

"We want to concentrate on running on our own course to get ready for the MEAC
Championships and running against those teams on a regular basis," said Barrett.

UMES will open the home athletic season for the Hawks on September 7th when they
host the annual UMES Lid-Lifter.  The following week they travel to Dover, Del to
attend the DSU Hornet Invitational.  They come home again the next weekend,
September 21, to host the annual UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational, named after the
late Hall of Fame coach from the school.

They head back to Dover on October 5th to attend the DSU Farm Run Invitational.  They
stay in the first state the following week to run in Newark, Del at the UD Blue and Gold
Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware.

After a week off, the Hawks come back home to Princess Anne on October 26th where
UMES will host the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships for the fifth
straight year.

UMES concludes the year at the NCAA mid-Atlantic Regional meet in Bethlehem, Pa,
on November 15th before starting the indoor track and field season in December.
