NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP)- Delaware State Police say an 11-year-old girl was hit by an SUV as she ran into traffic in New Castle.
It happened about 7:15 a.m. Thursday on East Basin Road. Troopers say Melanie Enger of New Castle ran from the west edge of the road into traffic. Police say she was hit by an SUV driven by 43-year-old Deborah Sczebelek of Newark.
Melanie was taken A.I. duPont Hospital, where she was treated for an arm injury. Sczebelek and a passenger in her car were not injured.
No citations were issued in the accident.
