RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- A new resource is available for offenders seeking to have their civil rights restored.

The Advancement Project has released its Virginia Civil Rights Restoration Guide, which helps felons navigate the steps the state has established to restore their voting rights and other civil rights. The Advancement Project has worked on the issue for the past decade.

This summer, the state outlined steps non-violent felons will have to take to recapture their basic civil rights.

Gov. Bob McDonnell has said up to 100,000 disenfranchised felons ultimately could be added to the voter rolls, serve on a jury or hold political office.

The restoration guide has copies of all required forms they'll need, the rules for paying off court costs, and other features.
