Crisfield Accountant Arrested for Stealing From Client

CRISFIELD, Md.- Maryland State Police have arrested a Crisfield accountant accused of stealing thousands of dollars from his client over the past three years.

According to police, the victim stated that he discovered his accountant of 10 years, Chris Sterling, of Chris Sterling CPA PA, had been stealing money from him. Investigators said the victim stated that between 2010 and 2013, Sterling had forged 93 checks in the amount of $56,830.

Sterling was arrested Friday and charged with theft, theft scheme, forgery and related offenses. He was then released on an unsecured bond. 

Those have done business with Sterling are urged to go over their accounts, police said.
