Boat Catches Fire, Sinks in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Coast Guard said a 46-foot fishing vessel caught fire Saturday afternoon, and eventually sank.

The OC Coast Guard said the boat caught fire a quarter mile from the shore on 5th street. The boat actually sank near 11th street.

The OC Coast Guard said two people were on board the burning vessel, and both were safely rescued unharmed.

Alongside the OC Coast Guard handling the situation was the OC Fire Department, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and Tow Boat U.S. The OC Coast Guard says the situation will now be taken over by a local salvage company.

There is no word on what caused the boat to catch fire.
