NEWARK, Del. (AP)- Three University of Delaware students have been charged with breaking into a house after they weren't allowed to attend a party there.
Newark police say the three men were part of a group that was denied entry to a party and asked to leave, leading to a scuffle in which a person's shirt was ripped.
Police say Eric Smith, Conor Travers and Frank Ward later returned to the home and demanded to know who ripped their friend's shirt. Police say they knocked on the door for about 15 minutes before forcing their way in through a rear door and assaulting the residents.
All three face charges including second-degree burglary and conspiracy and third-degree assault. Smith is also charged with resisting arrest. They've been released on bond.
