HARRINGTON, Del.- Police said a Harrington woman is facing charges of theft and forgery after allegedly stealing a man's checkbook and writing phony checks.

Brooke N. Clements, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday at her home.

Harrington police said that the victim, who remains unnamed, had a checkbook taken out of his home on the 200 block of E. Center St. Investigators said they were able to determine Clements was the suspect.

According to police, Clements forged her name on several of the victim's checks and cashed them at various locations in Harrington, without the victim's knowledge.

Clements was also said to be the girlfriend of the victim's grandson, according to police.

Clements was charged with 33 counts of theft under $1,500 where the victim is 62 years or older and 34 counts of second-degree forgery. She was held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on $50,000 bond.

Investigators are trying to determine if more suspects are involved.
