Caroline County Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

HENDERSON, Md.- Police say officers took a Barclay man into custody after officers discovered suspected marijuana inside of his car.

Deputies with the Caroline County Sheriff's Office on Aug. 30 stopped 35-year-old James Slaughter Ervin on Jackson Lane in Henderson for allegedly failing to wear his seatbelt.

After investigators concluded their search, police said Ervin was asked if he had any drugs inside of his car. Ervin claimed he had marijuana inside of his truck, police said.

Deputies said they found marijuana, as well as a CDS grinder and a CDS smoking device.

Ervin was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending trial.
