Motorcyclist Killed in Milford Crash

Updated:

MILFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say a 52-year-old man died late Sunday night when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV in Milford.

Police said the crash occurred at around 10:24 p.m. when Jeffrey A. White of Georgetown was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at a high rate of speed southbound on South DuPont Highway (US113) north of Marvel Road. Troopers said that as White approached slower moving traffic, he began making aggressive passing maneuvers.

Police said 34-year-old Brian L. Williams of Laurel was driving a Chevrolet Blazer southbound on South DuPont Highway in the left lane when the motorcycle began to pass and change lanes from the right to the left lane before striking the Blazer's right front fender.

Police said the motorcycle flipped over and threw White onto the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Williams made an abrupt left turn after the impact and hit the median, where his Blazer overturned onto its left side. Investigators said Williams was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash.

Police said White was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction was contacted by the Milford Police Department to assume the crash investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Master Cpl. K. Argo at (302) 644-5020, ext. 117, or download the DSP Mobile Crime Tip Application at http://www.delaware.gov/apps/.
