UMES' Jerabkova and Li Earn All-Tournament Team Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Hampton Inn Invitational announced their All-Tournament Team over the weekend and two University of Maryland Eastern Shore Volleyball players were recognized.

Senior Jingqiao Li (Beijing, China) and Petra Jerabkova (Czech Republic) were honored for their play in the event.

Li carried a strong defense for the Hawks, posting 66 digs in three matches and adding three assists from her libero position. She recorded over 20 digs twice, including a career high 28 against Manhattan in the opening match.

Jerabkova made quite an impression in her first collegiate action during the event. She came up one dig shy of a triple double in the opening match and tallied 24 kills, 41 assists, a pair of aces, 32 digs and six total blocks over the 11 sets.

The Hawks were 0-3 in the outing as the 11 new players are still learning to play together as a team. American went a perfect 3-0 while Sacred Heart went 2-1 and Manhattan 1-2.

Joining Li and Jerabkova on the All-Tournament Team were Kelly McCaddin and Megan Rosenberg from American, Diania Mercado and Ana Gonzalez from Sacred Heart and Allie Yamashiro and Malia McGuinness of Manhattan.

The Hawks head to Norfolk, Va. next weekend, Sept. 13-14, to take on Charlotte, Bethune-Cookman and Norfolk State in the Spartan Invite.
