PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- University of Maryland Eastern Shore star athletes Petra Jerabkova (Czech Republic) and Khalil Rmidi Kinini (Malaga, Spain) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center UMES Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 9, the Intercollegiate Athletics office announced on Monday.
The honor is the first of the year for the athletes program as junior Jerabkova and freshman Rmidi Kinini landed the first awards of their collegiate careers.
Jerabkova was named to the Sacred Heart University Hampton Inn Invitational All-Tournament team this past weekend. The junior volleyball standout tallied 24 kills, 41 assists, a pair of aces, 32 digs and six total blocks over three matches and 11 sets. She came up one dig shy of a tripe-double in the Lady Hawks' opening match against Manhattan.
Rmidi Kinini was the top finisher for the UMES men's cross-country teams at the UMES Lid-Lifter this past Saturday. The freshman finished the race with an eighth-place time of 16:42:07. His achievements helped guide the men to a second-place finish at the event as the Hawks concluded action with 57 points.
