NEWARK, Del.- The University of Delaware Softball team has acquired two transfers who will join the Blue Hen program, UD Softball coach Jaime Wohlbach has announced.
Kelly Lupton, of Galloway, N.J., and Heather Oakley, of Orland, Calif., will compete for UD this upcoming season.
Lupton went 4-1 with two saves and a 3.35 earned run average last year as a freshman at UNC Greensboro. Lupton played in 18 games while making seven starts for the Spartans, posting 48 strikeouts on the year. She fired her first career complete game against Hartford, allowing one earned run and striking out a career-high 10 batters.
Lupton was an All-South Jersey Team selection at Absegami High School, where she posted school records with 684 career strikeouts and 79 runs batted in. She went 17-5 in the circle as a senior with seven shutouts, including a pair of no-hitters.
Oakley spent the 2012 season at UC Davis before playing this past spring at Sacramento City College. She batted .448 in 38 games, going 52 for 116 at the plate with 38 runs scored, eight doubles, six home runs and 40 RBI. Oakley guided Sacramento State to a 33-7 overall record, including a first place finish in the Big 8 Conference with an 18-3 league mark. She also earned first time All-Big 8 Conference and All-Northern California accolades as an infielder.
Oakley earned a two-time All-Northern Section and four-time All-Butte View League honor at Orland High School, where she set school records and earned team MVP honors during all four years. She batted .472 for her career with 35 doubles, 10 triples, 18 home runs, 92 RBI, a .922 slugging percentage and a .531 on base percentage.
Lupton is listed as a sophomore at UD and has three season of eligibility remaining to play for the Blue Hens. Oakley is currently a junior and has two years left to play.
