OCEAN CITY, Md.– Authorities say two people are facing a variety of drug-related charges after an early Monday traffic stop in Ocean City led to the seizure of heroin and prescription pills.

Ocean City police said that at around 2 a.m. Monday, officers conducted the traffic stop in the area of 85th Street and Coastal Highway after police saw the vehicle swerving in and out of the traffic lanes. Police said that when the officer approached the vehicle, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Police said after a search of the vehicle, officers located six packages of heroin and numerous drug paraphernalia, including items typically used for packaging and distributing drugs. Also seized were approximately 10 assorted prescription pills, according to investigators.

Twenty-four-year-old Hannah Knoll Norris, of Fairfax, Va., was identified as the driver of the vehicle and 25-year-old Scott Edward Kahler, of Falls Church, Va., was identified as the passenger.

Norris and Kahler were charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, removing the label on a prescription drug, transporting heroin into Maryland and six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Norris and Kahler were seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and transferred to Worcester County Jail on $10,000 bond.
