Harrington Teen Arrested in Alleged Sexual Assault

MILFORD, Del. – Milford Police said they have arrested and charged a teen in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

Nineteen-year-old Jalen Benson, of Harrington, Del., was arrested Saturday in connection with a sexual assault that police say occurred around 2 a.m. in an isolated area at Silver Lake Apartments.

Police said they learned Benson approached the 22-year-old female victim in an isolated area, held her against her will and sexually assaulted her. The victim was eventually able to flee from Benson after a long struggle.

Prior to Benson being charged in connection with the incident, police said Benson returned back out to the apartment complex and attempted to do damage to the victim's property.

Benson was charged with first-degree attempted rape, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, offensive touching, harassment, third-degree criminal trespass, attempted criminal mischief under $1,000 and a traffic offense. He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $21,000 secured bond.
