Somerset County Schools to Offer Free FluMist Vaccine

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department said it will be offering free seasonal FluMist vaccines to all students in the county.

FluMist is a nasal spray, no needles involved, vaccination. They will be given at school during regular school hours beginning in October. Officials said parents do not need to be present for the vaccine to be administered.

Students will be bringing home information and a consent form, officials said. Parents are encouraged to sign and return the consent form to the school nurse as soon as possible.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone six months of age and older receive a yearly seasonal flu vaccination.
