'Slam Dunk' Tourney Returning to the Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- A basketball tournament scarred by scandal a decade ago in Delaware is coming back to Sussex County.

"Slam Dunk to the Beach" will return to Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes in December 2014, organizers announced Monday.

The tournament came to an end a decade ago after then-director Bobby Jacobs pleaded guilty to theft and forgery charges for stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the program.

The tournament's new chairman, Dr. Matthew Robinson, says he is looking to turn the page.

"We didn't take this lightly," said Robinson. "We have a checks and balances system and we plan on being very transparent."

The basketball tournament featured athletes Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard before they became superstars in the NBA.
