LANCASTER, Pa.- The Wesley College volleyball team played a pair of matches against Lancaster Bible College on Monday evening and went 1-1.
The Wolverines beat Baptist Bible 3-1 and then fell to Lancaster Bible 3-0. Wesley improves to 7-4 on the season. In the first match against Baptist Bible, Sharis Allen led the team all hitters with 14 kills while Arnelle Akakpo and Lindsay DiMuzio each had 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Meghan Marshall had a team-best 23 digs, with Samantha Weber adding 18. Ashley Klein collected 40 assists for the second most in a single game in Wesley history. The Defenders got 13 kills from Hannah Griffith.
The Wolverines and Chargers battled through the first two sets with the Chargers holding on 26-24 and 25-22. DiMuzio had 10 kills with Marshall and Rachel Hausler having 13 and 11 digs respectively. Klein picked up 27 assists.
Katie Coomber's 15 kills slowed the Chargers down.
The Wolverines return to play when they travel to Staten Island on Sept. 21 for a tri-match with Staten Island and New Rochelle. The team's first match is set for 2 p.m.
