Peninsula Regional Medical Center to Cut 58 More Jobs

SALISBURY, Md.- Fifty-eight more people will soon be out of work at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

The layoffs come on the heels of Delmarva's largest hospital making an announcement a little over two weeks ago about closing down its transitional care unit. That will put 43 people out of work.

The 58 employees losing their jobs will be from all different levels at the hospital. The total number of layoffs at PRMC now stands at 101, and hospital officials say more be on the way.

PRMC has said in the past the layoffs are happening because of many factors including shorter hospital stays and Obamacare.

Hospital spokesperson Roger Follebout said voluntary early retirement option is being offered to about 138 employees. They have 45 days to respond to the offer.
