2 DUI Checkpoints Planned in Del.

Updated:

DOVER, Del.- Police in Delaware have scheduled two DUI checkpoints across the state on Friday as part of a crackdown against drunk driving, the state Office of Highway Safety announced.

The two checkpoints will be held at the following locations Friday:

  • Newark- (New Castle County DUI Task Force)
  • Dover- (Delaware State Police)

Eighty-six people were arrested throughout the state last week for DUI, the OHS said. Four of those arrests were made at a DUI checkpoint conducted by the New Castle County DUI Task Force last Friday in Wilmington. Statewide, there have been 2,989 DUI arrests in Delaware this year, according to the OHS.

The 6-month-long Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign runs through New Year's Eve and involves setting up weekly DUI checkpoints statewide.
