DOVER, Del.- Delaware State University has completed an audit of its hiring process, focusing on background checks.

The audit comes after Freddie A. Asinor, the former dean of the university's College of Education, Health and Public Policy, abruptly resigned in July. Media reports later revealed he had a felony record that included forgery and embezzlement.

The audit found the school followed its laid-out human resource practices in the period in which Asinor was hired. But the audit committee did recommend the school enhance its background check system.

A separate financial review found no fraud, abuse or theft in Asinor's college during his time at DSU.
