DOVER, Del. (WBOC) - New details are emerging about what Delaware State Police believe happened in an alleged murder in Leipsic earlier this month.
Twenty-one-year-old Tony Mozick Jr. is charged with first degree murder in the death of his 18-year-old girlfriend, Taylor Owens. Police said the Dover woman's charred remains were found Sept. 7 in a wooded area along Denny Road in Leipsic.
The probable cause affidavit paints a gruesome picture of events that led up to that discovery.
According to the affidavit, on Aug. 31 Owens was at her sister's house and told her family she and Mozick had recently gotten in a fight over an old girlfriend of his.
The narrative said that visit was the last time Owens's family saw her alive.
According to detectives, Mozick told them in an interview that during an argument that day he pulled Owens feet from beneath her, causing her to hit her head on a door knob and die.
The affidavit goes on to say that Mozick placed Owens' body in a blanket and moved it to the wooded area. It was four days later, according to the document, that he came back, put tires on top of Owens' body and set all of it on fire.
Mozick waived a preliminary hearing late last week. His case has now been transferred to Delaware Superior Court.
