CRISFIELD, Md.- A Crisfield accountant who was arrested last month following accusations that he stole thousands of dollars from a longtime client is facing a slew of new charges in connection with another case.

Maryland State Police said troopers who were continuing a theft investigation into 45-year-old Chris Sterling, who owns Chris Sterling CPA PA in Crisfield, discovered that he was an accountant for Liberty Rock Church. Police said the investigation revealed that Sterling forged 56 checks in the amount of $23,695 from Liberty Rock Church between December 2010 and August 2013.

Late last month, Maryland State Police arrested Sterling in connection with another theft investigation. According to police, a 10-year client of Sterling discovered that Sterling had been stealing money from him. Investigators said the victim stated that between 2010 and 2013, Sterling had forged 93 checks in the amount of $56,830.

In that case, Sterling was charged with theft, theft scheme, forgery and related offenses.
