Va. School Picked to Design NASA Experiment

Posted:

HAMPTON, Va. (AP)- NASA has chosen a school in Hampton Roads to design an experiment that may some day fly on board the International Space Station.

The space agency says it has chosen New Horizons Governor's School for Science and Technology in Hampton to design microgravity experiment. It is one of 14 schools selected from across the country.

The first step in the process is to determine what sort of experiment might meet the needs of the space station. Then students will design, fabricate and document their idea.

To help make sure their experiment works in space's weightless environment, three of the students and a teacher will fly with their project onboard the Zero Gravity Corp.'s G-Force One plane

That's scheduled to take place next April at Ellington Field in Houston.
