Westbound Lanes On The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Have Been Reopened

QUEEN ANNES, Md. - Westbound lanes have reopened on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

According to the Maryland Transportation Authority, a fire was reported coming from underneath the bridge on the westbound side around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Thick black smoke could be seen coming from the bridge.

MDTA reports the fire has since been put out and are investigating the cause.

Westbound lanes were shut down for more than an hour and traffic was being turned around before bridge.

One eastbound lane was also closed.

As of 8:30 p.m. MDTA was reporting all lanes in both directions on the bridge had been reopened.

As of 7:30 p.m., westbound lanes remain shut down. Westbound US 50/301 traffic is being turned around before bridge.

One eastbound lane has also been closed.
