Milford Man Charged in Attack

MILFORD, Del.- A 40-year-old man is behind bars following accusations that he brutally attacked his ex-girlfriend and her friend in Milford.

Clarence Hendricks Jr. of Dover is charged with second-degree assault, criminal mischief under $1,500, carjacking 1st degree, terroristic threatening, malicious mischief by a motor vehicle, offensive touching. 

Milford police said that on Sunday, Sept. 29, officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on the unit block of West Thrush Drive in the Meadows of Shawnee development. When officers arrived on the scene, they said they found a 39-year-old Lincoln man lying in the front yard with obvious facial injuries. 

Police said a further investigation revealed that Hendricks was waiting at the home for his 50-year-old ex-girlfriend and her friend. Hendricks allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend and dragged her out of the vehicle and then got in and started striking her friend, according to investigators. 

Police said the male victim tried drive away and started to take off when Hendricks continued to hit him. Authorities said the male victim was able to escape the vehicle at which time Hendricks took possession of the vehicle, drove around the neighborhood and back to the house where the male victim was and continued to strike him in the face.  Hendricks then left in the victim's vehicle, police said. 

Officers later located Hendricks and took him into custody on the aforementioned charges. He was ordered held in lieu of $36,750 secured bond and also issued a no contact order with both victims. 

Hendricks is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
