Fruitland Waste Plant Fire Under Investigation


SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out at an Allied Waste plant in Fruitland.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says said 10:33 p.m. Tuesday fire broke out in a commercial dumpster at the plant. Investigators say the fire started from the inside of the dumpster and a second origin with a sofa that was adjacent to the dumpster.

It took five firefighters from the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department to control the fire.

There were no reported injuries. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office estimates the damage to be about $1000.
