Millsboro Man Killed in Crash in South Bethany

SOUTH BETHANY, Del.-Delaware State Police said that a Millsboro man died after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash in South Bethany early Sunday morning.

 

The accident happened at around 12:57 a.m.

Police said that 33-year-old Christopher Chapman was driving west on Kent Drive at a high rate of speed.They said that's when Chapman reached a sharp right turn in the roadway, lost control of the car, overcorrected and the car veered off of the south edge of the roadway while rotating counterclockwise. 

Authorities said the car, a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, traveled approximately seventy-eight feet on loose gravel before its passenger side hit a tree.

Police said that Chapman, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, died while being transported to Beebe Medical Center.

 Kent Avenue was closed for three hours as police investigated and cleared the crash.
